Sheetrock Love
We’re still plugging along with the remodel, in case you were wondering. I think it’s hard to see significant progress until the work is nearly done. So, it’s challenging to keep up the momentum when there is little pay-off at each step.
In fact, we may be at one of the more demoralizing stages in the process right now. We’ve moved all of the children’s belongings (other than beds) into the dining room to make the final wall rehab and painting easier. So, we no longer have access to the… Read more »»
Ode to an iPhone
Oh, iPhone, we thank you,
For all that you do.
To blog our New York trip,
And track expenses, too.
Like a trusted friend,
I must confess,
Guiding us safely,
By GPS.
You are phone and phonebook,
Orderly and pristine.
Camera and album,
And white noise machine.
With you at our side,
I know we’ll pull through.
We conquered New York.
Now, what else shall we do?!
So long, Crown Heights
These 12 short days have felt like a ride on a large spinning dreidel. We can’t wait to come back for another spin!
Chabad of Boro Park Gan Israel
A Massage Therapist’s work is never done! While visiting Boro Park, I was recruited to speak about massage to the bas mitzvah aged girls of the Gan Israel. It was great fun for me and the girls. They learned how to give a nice chair massage to each other, and then received one from me. Hopefully, they all went home and gave their mothers an unexpected massage!
You just never know what kids will bring home from camp!

We had the great honor of having private time in our Rebbe’s office. It was more inspiring than I had anticipated.
Survived the Subway
I was once an avid subway rider in Tokyo. I loved the precision and reliability of the whole Japanese railway system.
But ever since we started planning this NY trip, I’ve been gripped with fear about maneuvering through a busy subway with four children, my parents, and “Wrong-Way-Gilad”.
Will they be able to get on and off fast enough?
Will we get separated?
Will they annoy other passengers to the point of violence?
Much to my relief, the whole trip was a pleasure. It was a far superior experience compared to the drive to New… Read more »»
Liberty Island
The stuff that vacations are made of! If you’re only willing to stand in a long line once per vacation, spend it on line to a ferry that will take you to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. They are destinations that will fill you with awe both at what our predecessors have accomplished, and at the unparalleled freedoms that we enjoy in our lives.
Manhattan Bus Tour
This is the way to see the city! Great visibilty, personal tour guide, no walking, and 20 feet above (and out of reach of) the street vendors.
NEWS FLASH! Gilad does laundry!
What a great day! The girls and I come home from a morning of shopping and shaitel trimming to find the guys being sooo domestic! I guess vacationing just brings out the best in people.
How many women does it take to trim a shaitel?
Evidently: four.
One to wear the shaitel.
One to hold the shaitel down.
One to trim the shaitel.
And one to photograph the whole terrifying experience.
